Our organization is truly member run and committees are a huge part of that.  
Below you will find descriptions of the committees. 

 

Governmental Affairs Committees:

If you have a passion for advocacy the Governmental Affairs Committee provides a platform for you to actively engage in local and state real estate issues and elections. As a member of this committee, you would have the opportunity to review proposed regulations and policies within local governing bodies that affect real estate and take appropriate action based on the issues and the area.

The GA committees are responsible for closely monitoring the political landscape and staying informed about local and state real estate issues. This includes actively participating in elections by hosting candidate interviews, volunteering at polling locations, and providing support through activities such as phone banks. By engaging in these activities, committee members ensure that the real estate profession's interests are represented and protected in the political arena.

The committee's focus on being involved in local governing bodies and elections is driven by the understanding that active participation is necessary to have a voice in shaping policies and regulations. By actively participating in the political process, committee members ensure that the concerns and perspectives of the real estate profession are considered and addressed.

The committee is structured into sub-committees based on the areas where members live and work, such as Caldwell County, Comal County, Hays County, Gonzales County, and Guadalupe County. Each sub-committee has specific meeting times and locations where members gather to discuss relevant issues and plan their actions. These meetings provide a space for members to collaborate, share information, and strategize on how to effectively advocate for the interests of the real estate profession in their respective areas.

• Caldwell County Committee - Meets the 2nd Monday from 11:30-12:30pm at the Bluebonnet Electric Co-Op in Maxwell, TX. 10400 Hwy 142, Maxwell, TX 78656
• Comal County Committee - Meets the 2nd Thursday from 12-1 pm at the Four Rivers Headquarters. 936 Gruene Rd, New Braunfels, TX 78130
• Hays County Committee - Meets the 2nd Friday from 10-11 am via Broadcast Zoom. 
• Guadalupe County Committee - Meets the 1st Tuesday from 12-1 pm at First United Bank - Seguin. 200 N Austin St, Seguin, TX 78155

(Legislative Management Team Meeting (Sub-Committee Chairs Only) meets the 2nd Friday from 1:30-2:30 pm via Broadcast Zoom.  

 

Program Committee:

The Program Committee Member is crucial in organizing and managing various membership events for their organization. Their responsibilities include coordinating luncheons, Housing Forecasts, the REALTOR® Rally, and the Annual Awards & Installation Banquet. These events are designed to provide valuable insights and networking opportunities for attendees.

One of the key tasks of Committee Members is to identify and invite knowledgeable speakers and industry experts who can deliver informative presentations and workshops. These speakers share their expertise on topics relevant to the real estate industry, ensuring attendees gain valuable takeaways from the events.

Another aspect of the Committee Members' role is collaborating closely with Affiliate partners serving as advertisers. These partners are typically real estate industry providers with a vested interest in engaging with REALTORS®. Committee Members work with them to promote engagement between the organization's members and these industry providers.

Additionally, the Committee Members actively showcase local venues within their organization's five-county area. By featuring these venues, they promote the region and provide diverse settings for the organization's events.

Overall, the Committee Members play a vital role in ensuring the success of membership events by organizing engaging programs, securing knowledgeable speakers, facilitating networking opportunities, promoting collaboration with industry providers, and showcasing local venues.

Scholarship Program Committee: 

The Scholarship Committee is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who enjoy having fun, contributing to their communities, and making a positive impact. Members of this committee are responsible for organizing and hosting fundraising events, as well as being actively involved in the selection process for high school student scholarship recipients. This committee's work has significant benefits, not only supporting education but also making a lasting impact on the lives of deserving families and students.

Fundraising events organized by the committee are aimed at generating financial resources to support the scholarship program. These events may include an Annual Bunco/Cornhole Tournament and Online Raffle. By successfully hosting these events, the committee members can raise funds that will directly contribute to the scholarship program's success.

Additionally, committee members have the important task of reviewing and selecting scholarship recipients each year. This involves carefully evaluating applications, considering various criteria such as academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and financial need. Through this selection process, committee members play a crucial role in identifying deserving students who will benefit from the scholarships and positively impact their future educational endeavors.

Furthermore, committee members are also involved in presentations and follow-up activities related to the scholarship program. This may include organizing award ceremonies or recognition events to honor the scholarship recipients. By actively participating in these activities, committee members have the opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of their efforts and the success of the students who benefit from the scholarships.

TREPAC Committee:

In the real estate profession, being involved in politics is often intertwined with the aim of protecting private property rights and advocating for homeownership. The TREPAC Committee focuses on raising awareness and fundraising for the Purple Party, which represents the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC). The primary goal of this committee is to support local and state REALTOR® Champion candidates and effectively communicate the achievements of TREPAC to members of the organization.

One of the key responsibilities of the TREPAC Committee is to raise awareness about TREPAC and its mission among real estate professionals. This involves organizing events, meetings, or campaigns to inform members about the importance of supporting political candidates who champion the interests of the real estate industry and private property rights. By creating awareness, the committee ensures that members are well-informed about the significance of their contributions to TREPAC.

By actively participating in this committee, REALTORS® have the opportunity to influence and shape the political landscape in support of the industry's interests. They contribute to the success of REALTOR® Champion candidates who advocate for private property rights and homeownership, which are essential components of a thriving real estate market. Moreover, by raising awareness and effectively communicating TREPAC's accomplishments, the committee helps educate both members and the public about the importance of supporting these initiatives.

Moreover, by supporting TREPAC and advocating for REALTOR® Champion candidates, committee members contribute to the protection of private property rights and the promotion of homeownership, benefiting both the industry and the communities they serve.

Professional Standards Committee:

The Professional Development Committee's primary objective is to educate and train REALTORS® on the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. These guidelines outline the ethical responsibilities and conduct expected from real estate professionals. By emphasizing the importance of adhering to these standards, the committee helps ensure that REALTORS® maintain the highest level of professionalism in their interactions with clients, colleagues, and the public.

Furthermore, the committee places particular emphasis on Broker Responsibility. Brokers hold a significant role in overseeing the activities of their agents and are responsible for upholding ethical practices within their brokerage. The committee's focus on Broker Responsibility helps educate brokers on their obligations and encourages them to foster an environment of professionalism and integrity within their organizations.

Ideally, committee members actively involved in this committee should have completed, or be willing to complete, the Texas REALTORS® Professional Standard Training. This training program provides in-depth knowledge and understanding of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, equipping members with the necessary expertise to educate and train other REALTORS® effectively.

Overall, Members actively contribute to maintaining and enhancing the professionalism of the REALTOR® brand.

NextGen Committee:

The NextGen Committee is a valuable resource for new and existing Members entering the real estate profession. This committee focuses on providing support, mentorship, and networking opportunities to individuals who have been in the industry for five years or less with the aid of seasoned agents. Its aim is to help newcomers navigate their early years in real estate without having to start from scratch.

One of the key features of the committee is the mentorship program, which pairs new agents with seasoned agents. By connecting new agents with mentors, the committee facilitates a supportive environment where individuals can learn from experienced professionals and avoid common pitfalls.

The committee also provides access to exclusive NextGen Affiliate Partners. These partners are vendors and service providers within the real estate industry who can assist new agents in building their vendor list. By connecting with these partners, new agents gain access to trusted resources and valuable connections that can contribute to their success in the profession.

Additionally, the committee organizes and hosts various events to support the professional development and networking of its members. These events include panel discussions, Lunch n' Learn sessions, continuing education (CE) classes, community advocacy projects, and even fun activities with prizes, including a GRI® (Graduate REALTOR® Institute) Designation to one Member each year.

Importantly, all events organized by the NextGen Committee are free for members of the Four Rivers AOR (Association of REALTORS®). This ensures that new agents have access to these valuable resources and opportunities without any financial barriers.

Overall, the NextGen Committee provides a platform for new and young real estate professionals to connect, learn, and grow within the industry.

MLS Committee:

If you are a tech-savvy REALTOR® or have a passion for teaching others how to effectively utilize real estate platforms to enhance the quality of data in the MLS, then this committee is a great fit for you!

As a member of the Four Rivers MLS committee, you would be actively involved in identifying any issues or areas for improvement within the Matrix CTXMLS system and other MLS apps. This could involve, conducting assessments, gathering feedback from users, and identifying any inefficiencies or technical challenges that need to be addressed. By bringing these issues forward to the CTXMLS Advisory Council. The committee plays a vital role in advocating for system enhancements and improvements that directly impact the subscribers of the MLS.

Furthermore, the committee serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and educating other REALTORS® on how to effectively utilize the real estate platforms available. This could involve organizing bi-monthly training quizzes, promoting the monthly MLS Bootcamp, and MLS CE courses offered by Central Texas Regional MLS, to teach members about the functionalities and best practices of the MLS system and other associated apps. By sharing this expertise, the committee helps improve the overall data quality in the MLS and enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of real estate transactions for all users.

By joining the MLS Committee, you can contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the MLS system and associated apps. Your expertise and passion for technology and teaching can make a significant impact in ensuring that real estate professionals have access to robust and efficient platforms for managing their listings, showings, and market data. Members of this committee are eligible for consideration for future service on the CTXMLS Regional Advisory Council and MLS Board of Governors.
